What to expect on Wednesday at Willow Creek Elementary School
The next township hearing is Wednesday night in the auditorium at WCES (605 Crisscross Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522) and it’s vital we have great turnout from the community. We must show our township supervisors and the developers that we are engaged and united in our opposition to this project.
What we’re preparing for:
- The remainder of the traffic testimony from the expert witness working with the developers, Maiden Creek Associates. Chris Williams, traffic engineer with McMahon Associates (based in Chester County), began his testimony in the Dec. 16 meeting, largely referring to a traffic study completed in March showing the projected increases and “grades” awarded to the various intersections along Rt. 222 and the proposed development. (Read the Reading Eagle report on that December meeting.)
- There will be opportunities for parties to the application and township supervisors to cross-examine.
- If there’s still time remaining, the agenda will shift back to the testimony of Bohler Engineering and the expert witness, Cornelius Brown, regarding their plans for the acreage. Everything from blueprints to stormwater management and surrounding landscaping/environmental impact will be up for questioning.
We have been consistent in our messaging: This fight is not over. There is still a lot we can do to be heard, to demand more transparency from developers, and to appeal to our township supervisors who should have the best interests of our community at heart.
This quote stood out from a previous hearing:
“Every single (project) I hear this, ‘Everything’s fine, you’ve got all your testing done,’ and then guess what? You make money, and the community suffers,” Voorhies told developers. “I moved to this community to get away from that.”
Community resident Charles Voorhies
