At tonight’s hearing, we’ll be collecting signatures for a petition that will be delivered to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) concerning the developers’ National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit application.

What does this mean?

• The developer/applicant needs the NPDES permit to be approved because of the size of the proposed construction and its proximity to an Exceptional Value (EV) stream: in this case, Peters Creek.
• Our goal: a public hearing with the state regarding the application. As we have stated, transparency is key. We would like to hear the details of their permit application.
• A public hearing could lead to their development plans requiring modification and/or revision, which gives us more time to oppose the project.

We will have the petition available for signing at the hearing.
