Apologies for the lack of recent posts: the fight against this warehouse on Rt. 222 continues alongside work, family and life, and it’s an endless battle. We are trying our best, but we could use more help.
If you care about your community, your quality of life, your property value and even the degree of calm you can find on your property — which will forever be changed if the added light, noise and environmental pollution is allowed in Maidencreek with this construction — please join our FB group and contact the admins about getting involved. Or leave a comment here and we’ll reach out.
Our group is preparing for the next round of hearings and wanted to post a few updates as to what’s happening.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: Despite what you may have seen in the newspapers/public notices, this warehouse has NOT been approved for development. Out of town lawyers, advocating on behalf of this million-square-foot monstrosity, are attempting to claim victory through legal challenges and statutes. Why? They’re bullying and big-timing our neighborhood. Crush us with paper and procedure, exploit loopholes and run to friendly media with positive-sounding updates.
- The fact is, there are still several open lawsuits aimed at our township board of supervisors. Classic bully tactics designed to nullify any community resistance via these public hearings, to which we are all entitled.
- We’re still deep in hearings: the developers are still presenting their witnesses to the township, which is why their jargon-filled declarations of victory are NOT TRUE.
Second, some news and notes from other communities who have successfully fended off such carpetbaggers from blighting the landscape with vacant/unrented warehouses.
- It’s important to know that legal challenge and community efforts can succeed. Take this victory for the residents of Maxatawny Township to our north, as secured by local firm Cornerstone Law, which blocks 12.1 MILLION SQUARE FEET of proposed warehouse construction further up Rt. 222.
- The Lower Nazareth Planning Commission blocked two conditional use proposals for additional warehouses on open farmland. Read more, and read why, here.
Finally, WE HAVE DATES FOR UPCOMING HEARINGS! We are still fighting this battle, but please consider attending and showing your opposition to our community leaders. This is a garbage proposal for development in our backyards that will forever change our community, and it’s been pushed by people who don’t live here and don’t care about those who do.
Every meeting is at Willow Creek Elementary School (map here) and they all begin at 6.30pm ET.
- Hearing No. 6: Wednesday, April 26
- Hearing No. 7: Tuesday, May 30
- Hearing No. 8: Tuesday, June 6
- Hearing No. 9: Tuesday, July 11
- Hearing No. 10: Tuesday, August 8
Why do these hearings matter? This is your chance to be heard. There will be several hearings for public open comment in which you can:
- submit evidence that disproves the developers’ efforts
- call your own witnesses in opposition to the developers’ paid “expert witnesses“
- appeal directly to the decision-makers in our township that this project does not meet the criteria for approval
