We are not giving up this fight… even if WFMZ doesn’t seem to appreciate it

Meeting No. 8 took place last night at the Township building: here is the WFMZ write-up of the event.

One thing is clear: the tone of frustration is evident from the out-of-town developers and their attorney.

Many of the questions from the registered parties raised objections from the attorney for the applicant, claiming the questions were beyond the scope of the original testimony.

Lengthy questioning from parties has been responsible for prolonging the hearings, and has also prevented cross-examination to occur during the same night as a witness’s testimony.

Maidencreek Associates filed litigation against the township in February alleging that the township’s pace of meetings and the process of questions by members of the public had not been fair.

To be clear: We are simply doing what is right and fair according to our rights as registered parties. We deserve to know what they are actually planning for our community. We also deserve straight answers on everything from the environmental impact to the continuing traffic issues in our neighborhood.

And yet, we get nothing but legalese, technical jargon, confusing answers and attorney-driven efforts to silence us and get their way in our backyards.

Does that seem right to you?

ANOTHER POINT WORTH MAKING: Notice how the entire article makes several mentions of how long this is taking, as if that is the problem here? There’s no mention of the township’s lawyer asking questions, the supervisors themselves asking questions, or of the actual content of the meeting. We are seen as pests or nuisances against their hurry to put a MILLION-SQUARE-FOOT WAREHOUSE, and with NO TRANSPARENCY over tenants, lot size or anything.

This is an unfair representation of this battle: we’re fighting it for as long as it takes because we deserve the truth about THEIR plans for where WE live.

Join our efforts as we still have a long, long way to go in this battle for the future of Maidencreek.
