Where would this water go with a warehouse?

Hello, friends and neighbors —

Have you had a look outside? Are you stuck in the house due to the incredible amount of rain we’re experiencing? One of our Taskforce members has been out in this torrential downpour — notable for both speed and volume — to document how overwhelmed our roads are with water.

Now… imagine how much worse, and how dangerous, it could be if the million-square-foot warehouse is approved in our community? Their stormwater management strategies were shown to be dubious at best and negligent at worst in recent hearings, and we’re still not finishing dissecting their data.

Just take a look:

This is Willow Creek, near the intersection of Faith Drive and Schaeffer Road. This is also roughly 1,000 feet from the Rt. 222 roundabout and the proposed warehouse.

This is the intersection of Faith Drive and Schaeffer Road, up close. Note that the new bridge over Willow Creek is impassable there due to this flooding. We are still roughly 1,000 feet from the proposed warehouse.

This is the roundabout at the intersection of Schaffer Road and Rt. 222. This is where they propose the warehouse will sit. The roads are already struggling against this volume of water; how much worse would it be with an 80-acre concrete footprint preventing the runoff?

THIS WAREHOUSE MAKES NO SENSE IN OUR COMMUNITY. It will make these situations WORSE in the future. It will make traffic WORSE in the future. It will HURT OUR PROPERTY VALUES while it sits vacant, as so many new warehouses within a five-mile radius currently do. It would change our community FOREVER.

The next hearing is THIS TUESDAY, JULY 11. Details in the header. Please consider donating to our legal efforts and expert testimony. Join our Facebook group to get involved.

THIS FIGHT IS NOT OVER. THIS WAREHOUSE IS NOT A DONE DEAL.
